Improve your mobility, confidence, independence and quality of life with our flexible programme. How can Conductive Education help stroke survivors?
“I was in hospital for three weeks and when I came home I was very low. I wasn’t mobile at all and they said I wouldn’t walk again. We had to have the bed downstairs and home help came three times a day. They wanted to put me on anti-depressants but I refused because I didn’t want to go down that road.
“Then at hospital we saw a notice for NICE. We came for an assessment and Agi (the conductor) felt my leg and said “Oh yes there’s definitely something there.” “So I carried on coming and I learned ways of doing things, like how to get up off a chair and move around in bed. The sessions gave me so much confidence and the conductors are so helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them and the individual attention they give makes a difference. Then I learned to walk again. That has been the main thing. I came here in a wheelchair and I leave it at home now” – June talking about CE
The programme consists of an initial consultation, a specialist 2 week intensive course followed by 20 weeks of on-going rehabilitation working towards your goals to achieve your aims. There is also support for travel and subsistence.
