Frequently Asked Questions

Who takes part in these challenges?

There is no such thing as an average participant! We have a huge variety of people on our treks, ranging from 16 to 75 and everything in between! Most people will not know anyone else on the trip but we also welcome couples and teams. Either way, you will go home with many new friends.

What’s included in the minimum sponsorship?

The specifics vary with each challenge but in general, your flight, flight transfers, accommodation, food, guides and experienced expedition staff are included.

Do I need to be fit?

Yes, but you don't need to be super fit. Many people who take part in these events aren’t experienced – most have never trekked before. However, in order to gain maximum benefit and enjoyment from the trip, you will need to start training early. Upon registration, we will provide you with a comprehensive training programme and will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.

What do I need to bring?

This is specific to the particular trek – please contact us for more details. In most cases you will be able to borrow any special equipment, meaning you don’t have to spend money on kit. You will also need to have adequate travel insurance for the challenge.

What kind of support will I get? (Please see also ‘Why us?’)

We take pride in the fact that we are able to support our participants every step of the way with challenges. We can even help you produce a detailed fundraising plan, ensuring you reach your targets without worry! Upon registration, we will send you a fundraising pack full of ideas, guides to organising events, sample posters and letters. The travel company will be on hand to answer any questions about the trek and will provide you with a detailed training guide.

What about food and drink?

All food will be provided for you, unless specified in the information pack. The type of food you will be eating depends on the trek, but we do cater for vegetarians and any other dietary requirements – just let us know!

Can I extend my stay?

Depending on the trek you choose, you may be able to stay, subject to an administration fee

Who organises the trips?

The trips are organized by an external tour operator on an ‘open basis’, meaning you will be taking up the challenge alongside representatives from all sorts of charities. The main company we use is Global Adventure Challenges (ATOL 6506) – please contact us for more information.

What if I can't raise the minimum sponsorship?

We will provide you with a fundraising pack full of ideas on how to reach your target. As a small charity who are incredibly grateful of your help, we can take the time out to work directly with you to help you reach your goals.

However, in the very unlikely event that you do not manage to raise the money in time, all is not lost! You will have the choice of making up the shortfall yourself or transferring to a later challenge (subject to a small administration fee) and thereby giving yourself longer to fundraise.
