“Ground Force”

RBS garden challenge at NICE RBS garden challenge at NICE

RBS fancied a challenge, so to help us get ready for the graduation and Garden Party the whole department joined together and made “Ground Force” look like a doddle! Headed up by Matt Hart and Steve Clutterbuck, the staff worked relentlessly in three areas on 12th June 2007.

Their planning for the challenge was done with military precision; a skip was hired along with a chipper, plants all pre-ordered and delivered, and most importantly cool boxes with drinks, snacks and lunch were organised. A new bed was dug and planted with traditional low maintenance shrubs, the crazy paving at the side of Cannon Hill House was scraped free of moss, then the flower beds planted up and the laurel hedge on the left hand side of the drive cut back. On top of all that, the team then planted up tubs and containers with summer bedding plants - the transformation was amazing.

At the end of the day we were also given a donation of £500. We can’t thank RBS staff enough for doing something we had neither the time nor the funds to do.
