Cycle for Charity Bike Ride

8 July 2007

Blythe Valley Park Nature Trail in Solihull provided the picturesque setting for the 5th annual sponsored Cycle Ride and Family Fun Day Out for charity organised by the Rotary Club of Solihull St Alphege.

The Blythe Valley Park was a new venue and many were surprised and impressed with such a scenic venue. More than 600 people attended the event with 180 sponsored cyclists taking to the track to raise funds for Cure Leukaemia and the Foundation for Conductive Education.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Solihull were present at open the event and spent the morning chatting to the many cyclists, families and stall holders.

Entertainment was provided by young people from around the borough including The Ardenaires Jazz Band from Arden School a, Hi-Bri's Dance Troop, Solihull Music Service and Langley School Choir and Orchestra.

The Air Cadets from 492 Squadron were there to lend a helping hand as were Scouts and Cubs to promote the 100th Anniversary.

Children were entertained by Punch and Judy and a Thomas the Tank Engine land train.

Our thanks goes to everyone at Solihull St Alphege for their support and for involving us in such a fantastic event
