Transform lives with a legacy

Leave a legacy to the Foundation for Conductive Education and help transform the lives of disabled people and their families for generations to come.

"I have had first-hand experience of Conductive Education having taken my son Richard to the Petö Institute in the early eighties. It's made a huge difference to our lives. I wanted to leave a legacy to the Foundation to ensure many more people can benefit as we did. Will you join me?"
Dr Kate Whelan, whose son Richard has cerebral palsy.

We have created the 'foundations' on which the future of Conductive Education depends. By remembering the Foundation in your Will you can help us build on our work – not just for today but for generations to come.
Bequests and legacies provide us with the long-term income we need to plan for the future and expand the range of services and benefits we can bring to disabled people and their families. Thank you to all those who have supported us in this way.

Making a Will is the only way to guarantee that your wishes are respected after your death. If you do not make a valid Will, when you die the law will decide what happens to your money and possessions, regardless of your actual wishes.

There are several types of legacy to consider:

  • Pecuniary legacy: A gift of a specific sum of money.
  • A simple form of pecuniary legacy would be: "I bequeath to the Foundation for Conductive Education, of Cannon Hill House, Russell Road, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8RD (Registered charity No. 295873) the sum of £x”
  • If any particular conditions are required relating to the legacy, or if it is to be index-linked then special wording will be required.
  • Residuary legacy: The whole of or a share in what is left of an estate, after any taxes, bills or debts have been paid off.
  • A simple form of Residuary Legacy would be: “I give the residue of my real and personal estate to the Foundation for Conductive Education of Cannon Hill House, Russell Road, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8RD (Registered Charity No 295873).
  • Specific items: Such as property, jewellery, shares or a car.
  • A simple form of Bequeathing a specific item would be: “I bequeath my [ ] to the Foundation for Conductive Education of Cannon Hill House, Russell Road, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8RD (Registered Charity No 295873)

"James lived with Parkinson's for twenty years and for almost ten of those he attended the Institute. I can't praise the staff enough for their kindness and support to both of us... they kept us going for ten years. When James died I asked that, instead of flowers, friends and relatives gave a donation to the Foundation in his memory." Joyce Robb.

Seeking advice
A Will is one of the most important documents you will ever put your name to and you should seek the advice of a solicitor. It will probably cost far less than you realise and you may save your family inheritance tax.
