Do you want to make a significant difference to a little boy’s life? Glapthorn School is recruiting for a Level 2 Teaching Assistant who will work with a yr 4 child who has cerebral palsy. He is bright, but physically compromised, and he needs a kind, enthusiastic, creative but strict TA who will help him to learn and reach his potential. Someone with Conductive Education experience would be excellent (he and another boy in school have regular CE sessions). The role is offered as 26.5 hours a week, but these hours could be extended through private work (through the boy’s family) or as an after school supervisor (the role is also advertised on the same website). The role is offered as a one year contract as it is linked to annually agreed funding.

We have a charming and sociable 7-year-old son with mixed-type Quad CP (athetosis/spasticity) and a moderate to severe hearing loss. At the age of 2, our son participated in various intensive CE camps (Ability Camp and the Ontario March of Dimes). Since the age of 3, our son has received one-on-one conductive education therapy. He has a full daily program of CE and other educational and rehabilitation activities, and attends school on a regular basis.

We have an opportunity for a junior conductor to join our adults department and work alongside more experienced conductors in a range of groups. The job is initially until July 2015 and would be ideal for a conductor looking to gain experience in working with adults with Parkinson’s, MS, stroke, cerebral palsy and acquired brain injury. The successful applicant would join a team of conductors and work in groups alongside them. The department is involved in a number of other activities which would provide a unique conductive experience.
