Children’s Services

Meeting the educational needs of a child with a neurological motor disorder, such as cerebral palsy, is one of the most essential responsibilities that parents carry out. The Foundation for Conductive Education recognises the importance of partnership between home and school in order for children to make progress and parents are encouraged to continue their children’s learning in their own home environment.

Services for children at the National Institute for Conductive Education include:

Parent & Child Service

Conductive Education from birth to three years

The Parent & Child service aims to provide a comprehensive intervention appropriate to the age, ability and special needs of the children and leads to the development of motor, social and cognitive/learning skills.

Early Intervention Service

Conductive Education for children aged three to seven years

The Early Intervention service is designed to meet the needs of children and their families by delivering a conductive service with the flexibility to suit a variety of needs. These services can link in with mainstream or other specialist provision or can be a dedicated, specialist conductive service for a child.

School Group

Conductive Education for children of primary school age

In School Group pupils learn and gain motivation together and, led by the Conductors, are encouraged and taught to become more independent, to communicate effectively, to learn to take care of their own needs and take care of their own needs. Academic work is at appropriate levels, preparing to follow or following programmes of study from Key Stages 1 and 2 of the National Curriculum.
