BA Hons in Conductive Education

On Monday 16th January a team from Birmingham City University held a meeting at NICE with external advisors to validate us as an accredited Institution and specifically the BA Hons course leading to Qualified Conductor Status.

The panel were impressed with the standard of work at the Institute and approved the course to commence from September 2012.*

We are therefore now continuing to recruit more students to train as conductors. For more details about the BA Hons course in Conductive Education please contact Marie McCann at mmccann@conductive-education.org.uk

A RUNAWAY SUCCESS!

Cannon Hill House organised a 10k road race in and around Cannon Hill Park on Sunday 6th November 2011 to help raise funds to enable us to continue to provide our vital services.

It was a perfect Autumn day – blue sky, sunny but not too warm – and over 160 runners took part in the race around the picturesque course.

Dominga Devitt, race organiser commented “We had a great turnout this year with 100% more finishers than last year, and many runners achieving a personal best. The weather was great, everyone enjoyed the day and we’ve had a fantastic rating on Runner’s World – it just doesn’t get much better!”

The race has received numerous accolades for its impeccable organisation and marshalling, and has achieved a phenomenal rating of 97% on the Runners’ World website, which is regarded as the definitive website for all serious runners.

To date, the event has raised over £1400 for Cannon Hill House.

Some of the comments on Runners’ World website are :-

“One of running's best-kept secrets!: Well organised, great atmosphere. You will lose a few seconds on the occasional hairpin but make no mistake, it's a fast course. Hope they can pull in even more runners next year as it raises money for a great cause.”

“Uniquely wonderful, low key event! Superbly organised and extraordinarily well catered for given event size. Friendly and helpful marshalls. Winding course on park paths with opportunity for some duck hurdling or dog vaulting for the budding steeplechasers. And for charity. A couple of sharp turns may make a pb difficult, but on the other hand, its pretty flat. Overall, it doesnt get much better for an event like this !”

“Good fun 10k, nice flat course (mostly!) Great organisation and a better goody bag than the Birmingham Great Run! Can't be bad. A fixture for next year - i'd say so!”

“Great low key race. Lovely park, great marshalls, wonderful atmos - was my 2nd year of running and this will def become a regular fixture in my calendar.”

“Yet another fantastic race from the Conductive Education team! Brilliant low key and friendly race. Loved it! Have done it a number of times now and it is a real gem.”

“Great 10K in Cannon Hill Park. This is the second year I've run the Conductive Education 10K, and I think it's a great race. It's well organised, it's a nice flat course - mostly around the park, so it's a pleasant run too, and there's cake at the end for those who like cake. I'd highly recommend this race to anyone in Birmingham - looked like a real range of finishing times this morning. I managed a PB, so am chuffed, and will be looking forward to running it again next year.”
