Our Charity
The National Institute of Conductive Education is a leading UK charity working to improve the lives of children and adults with neurological motor disorders through the system and practice of Conductive Education.
Every year thousands of children and adults are diagnosed with a motor disorder – such as cerebral palsy and dyspraxia in children and Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, stroke and cerebral palsy in adults. Receiving a diagnosis can be a devastating time for all concerned and families and individuals can often feel isolated and not sure of where to turn for information, advice and practical support.
During 2011 nearly 1000 children and adults will turn to the National Institute of Conductive Education for support through our services at the Institute in Birmingham, our offsite services, workshops and training.
The National Institute offers a whole of life solution to manage a motor disorder condition. It does not set arbitrary barriers on achievement but rather guides and teaches individuals how to overcome these as one large step towards improving quality of life through building confidence and allowing increased independence for the individual and their families. We transform peoples lives and give them hope for the future.
We represent a real centre of excellence in our work and as charity are very dependent upon voluntary support and funding.
