About The Foundation

The Foundation for Conductive Education was established in 1986 following the BBC documentary Standing Up for Joe.  The programme focused on a young British boy with cerebral palsy attending the Peto Institute in Hungary.  Following its broadcast over 11,000 enquiries flooded into the BBC asking why Conductive Education was not available in the UK.  The parental pressure group, Rapid Action for Conductive Education formed in Coventry in 1985, received huge local support and from it the Foundation for Conductive Education was born.

Now in 2010, the Foundation offers a comprehensive range of Conductive Education services for children and adults as well as facilitating a three year undergraduate course in Conductive Education in conjunction with the University of Wolverhampton.
