A range of Post Graduate modules for existing professionals have been validated by Birmingham City University through our partnership. Modules currently running:
A Special Pedagogy: the theoretical base of Conductive Education (30 credits)
The purpose of this module is to enable existing professionals to gain critical knowledge of the philosophy, process and practice of Conductive Education. This knowledge will provide a framework for professionals to place CE in a wider context and enhance their professional skills and practice.
The module will be aimed at professionals including teachers, therapists and psychologists who may currently be working with children in a CE environment, carrying out research into CE or have a professional interest in understanding CE as a system of special education. Total of 50 hours teaching which will be delivered over four blocks of two days (as per dates below) or in one block of two weeks (dates to be confirmed) Please contact Marie McCann for more information at email@example.com
Conductive Practice Tutor (30 credits)
This is aimed at qualified conductors who have 5 or more years experience as a conductor. Conductors must be involved in mentoring (assistants, students, parents) to study this module. This module is essential for conductors wishing to host undergraduate students at their centre but equally can help promote an ethos of mentoring assistants and parents. The module is a practical based module involving the conductor keeping a portfolio of mentoring experiences. Total of 20 hours teaching held in Birmingham over 6 months.
Dates for 2016/17:
1st and 2nd December 2016
9th and 10th March 2017
The Transformative Role of the Pedagogue (30 credits)
This module moves thinking one stage further to the pedagogue. In order to be a successful pedagogue an understanding of self is as crucial as an understanding of the learner. This module will move the student into a deeper level of self-reflection and provide a framework to challenge daily work towards transforming the person towards an orthofunctional personality. This module can be studied by professionals who have completed the Special Pedagogy module and/or qualified conductors. We have identified this module as the starting point for qualified conductors who wish to work towards a Master’s qualification. Total of 50 hours teaching over 1 year (5 x 2 day blocks).
